Teodora presents “Sevdo”: ethno magic and female power

Teodora has unveiled her new music video for the song “Sevdo”, part of Diapason Records’ project “Folk Fusion: New Sounds of Bulgarian Folklore”, implemented with the financial support of the European Union (Next Generation) through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan – BG-RRP-11.020-0061-C01. The premiere took place simultaneously on the air of Fen TV, Balkanika Music Television, Fen Folk TV, and BG Music Channel.

The music was composed by Teodora herself in collaboration with Greek composer Dimitris Dekos, who also created the arrangement. The singer also co-wrote the lyrics together with Deshka Petrova.

The idea for “Sevdo” was born last year when the title spontaneously appeared in Teodora’s mind. She shared the concept with the lyricist, who further developed the story of a beautiful and independent woman—desired by all, yet difficult to conquer.

“This is one of my most beautiful songs. It was created with a lot of love and carries deep sensuality. I hope it touches people the way it touches me. I want them to feel the emotion that comes from my heart”, the star shared.

Teodora admits she is strongly inspired by ethno sounds—a style that marks a new stage in her artistic development. She gladly experiments in this direction and is determined to continue performing in the genre.

“Through this music, we can more easily reach the younger generation and bring them closer to our roots and traditions. I believe folk music must be preserved—both through authentic interpretations and through a contemporary reading”, she added.

For the music video Teodora worked with director Radina Milencheva, opting for a striking and stylish visual concept. The styling was handled by Kristian Pizhov, while Borislav Sokolov – Boni (makeup) and Nikola Filaretov (hair) contributed to the performer’s flawless look, enhancing the project’s strong visual impact.

“The entire team I work with is exceptional. They are incredible professionals and wonderful people. I value their talent and am happy that together we created this beautiful music video,” Teodora said.

The video also features dancers from Ballet New eX, who bring additional dynamism and energy to the on-screen story.
