Dua Lipa released “Levitating” featuring DaBaby
Dua Lipa released the new single “Levitating”; the track brings listeners directly to the dance floor. Produced by Koz & Stuart Price, this funk song includes a guest verse from the rap sensation DaBaby, which has surpassed 7 billion global streams since signing with Interscope Records in 2019 so far. “Levitating” is the latest track from Dua’s No. 1 album “Future Nostalgia”, which also contains the hit singles “Don’t Start Now”, “Physical” and “Break My Heart”.
“Levitating” is accompanied by a futuristic art deco video, revived by the unique, first-of-its-kind partnership between Dua Lipa and Tik Tok, which in turn challenges Tik Tok users to create original content for the official video. The result is 150,000 videos posted and over 300 views of the challenge, as well as many ideas such as makeup visions, original dance moves and even the TikTokers themselves dancing in the video. Inspired by Studio 54 and the golden age of disco, the video shows Dua being transported through a portal to an elevator of disco lights, partying with skaters found at Tik Tok! Directed by Warren Fu, well known for his work with artists such as Daft Punk, Mark Ronson and The 1975.
Since the release of their first single in 2015, Dua Lipa has become one of the hottest young artists in the world. Her self-titled album sold 5 million worldwide, singles sold 7 million, and the video for the sudden hit “New Rules” (the song that changed my life, she says) made her the youngest female solo artist to reach one billion. views on YouTube. She created a history of the BRIT Awards in 2018 with five nominations, with two victories for the British Breakthrough Act and the British Female Solo Artist. Dua Lipa then received two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording with Electricity, her collaboration with Silk City the following year. At the end of 2019, Dua performed the No. 1 global hit single “Don’t Start Now” on MTV EMAs, ARIAs, AMA and MAMA, which led to the release of her latest album “Future Nostalgia”. Her second record surpassed 294 million streams in her first week and now exceeds 2.2 billion Spotify streams on all her tracks, establishing Dua Lipa as the most listened to British artist on Spotify globally and the most listened to female artist on the platform. “Future Nostalgia” contains 3 top 10 hit singles “Don’t Start Now”, “Physical” and the recent hit “Break My Heart”, as well as holds the record for most listened album in a day by any other British female artist and also thus had the longest presence of 3 tracks in the top 10 by a female artist since 1955.
