Radostina Nikolova presented her new musical release, “Samodiva”, part of the project “Folk Fusion: New Sounds of Bulgarian Folklore” by Diapason Records, which is realized with financial support from the European Union (Next Generation) through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan – BG-RRP-11.020-0061-C01.

The official premiere of the music video took place simultaneously on four music television channels – Fen TV, Balkanika Music Television, Fen Folk TV, and BG Music Channel.
“Samodiva” is Radostina Nikolova’s second ethno project and clearly states her intention to continue developing in this style. The composition blends a modern sound with authentic folkloric elements and a mystical atmosphere inspired by Bulgarian mythology.

The music and arrangement are by Alex Nushev, and the lyrics were written by Deshka Petrova. The leading motif “Libe moe” emerged during the work on the demo version of the song in the studio, and later the idea of the personage of the samodiva was developed in the lyrics to emphasize the mystical feeling of the composition.

“I was extremely inspired during the recording process. I have the opportunity to present something completely different from my previous projects, and I really like this style. I hope the audience will feel it and embrace it with pleasure,” shared Radostina Nikolova.
“Samodiva” includes a motif from the Shop folklore song “Izkusala baba leshta.” The interweaving of this melody, performed in an asymmetrical rhythm, makes the composition distinctive and represents a serious creative challenge for the composer.

The director of the music video is Pavlin Ivanov-Bashmotion, who creates a powerful visual interpretation of the image of the samodiva. The concept with the moon and the real tree are entirely his ideas and harmoniously correspond with the message of the song.

“I am very happy with our collaboration. This is the most different music video I have made so far, and the entire process was extremely inspiring. I’m glad that I can show the audience a new side of myself,” adds Radostina Nikolova.

The video also features dancers from Ballet New Ex, whose choreography contributes to the magical impact of the production. The dances were specially developed to recreate samodiva rituals, through which, according to folk beliefs, they enchant and captivate hearts.
The makeup and hairstyle of Radostina Nikolova are by Maria Zhelankova.

With “Samodiva,” Radostina Nikolova and Diapason Records continue their mission to combine the richness of Bulgarian folklore with contemporary musical and visual expression.
Watch Radostina Nikolova’s new video “Samodiva” on Fen TV, Balkanika Music Television, Fen Folk TV, and BG Music Channel, as well as on the official YouTube channel of Diapason Records. The song is also available on digital platforms.
